Andrew Kates is Kelowna Minor Hockey’s first winner of OMAHA’s Jack Koteles Award. This award goes to an individual or team who show a strong commitment to community service. Andrew has volunteered his time to a number of local charities and associations, including the Kelowna Gospel Mission, Kelowna Community Food Bank, and the Okanagan Pride Society. He has volunteered for many community events such as the Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis, the Christmas is Coming benefit concert at the Delta Grand. He helped organize the OKM Car Smash fundraiser which helped donations for the Red Cross fire relief for the people of the Fort McMurray fires. Andrew was a member of the OKM Rotary Interact Club, and the OKM Leadership class. Andrew is truly the embodiment of what this award is all about, and KMHA is very proud of all of his efforts within the community.
