Overagers for Midget Recreation

Posted by Kelowna Minor Hockey Association on Jun 15 2017 at 09:36AM PDT

The Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association (OMAHA) recently voted to allow select over aged midget recreation players and goalies to participate in the 2017/2018 season. Participants must have been born between April 1st and December 31st 1999 to be eligible to apply. Priority will be provided to players who meet the following criteria;
• Will be enrolled in high school during the upcoming hockey season
• Has not played Midget Hockey at the rep level in the past
• Has not received suspensions in the past through KMHA or OMAHA
• Over aged goalies are encouraged to apply due to the shortage of goalies at the Midget level
Over aged players will not be placed on teams that have a full roster of Midget aged players. Teams that have roster space will have a limit of two over aged players excluding goal tenders. It’s important to note that only players and goalies approved by OMAHA will be allowed to register with KMHA. Anyone interested in applying to register with KMHA as an over aged Midget recreation player or goalie for the 2017/2018 season should contact Steve Smith at in order to begin the application process. Because we cannot register players until they have been approved by OMAHA, any players who submit their names for the list prior to July 15 2017 will get the early registration rate should OMAHA approve them for play. For additional clarification on this communication, please contact Steve.
