The Kelowna Female A Rockets recently won gold in their home opening tournament. The girls won the game after battling back from a 3-0 deficit against the Tri-Cities Predators.

“It was incredibly exciting to watch,” says head coach Kevin England, “ the girls didn’t give up and managed to tie up the game in the last few minutes.”

After the teams played a five-minute overtime period, the score remained 3-3. Kelowna won the game in a shoot out when Jr. Rockets goalie, Ally Wark, stopped the second Predators shooter. Kelowna Defenceman, Kaedence Mollin, won the game on a shot just under the Predators goalie’s blocker.

“It was pretty dramatic,” says assistant coach Tanya Leone, “and nice to see the girls get rewarded for all their hard work.”

The Kelowna Female A Rockets went 4 and 1 during the tournament, even defeating the reigning provincial champs the Richmond Ravens.
