Congratulations to our Peewee Female A team on winning their home tournament.

The girls opened the tournament against the 2016 Provincial Champions Richmond Ravens with a hard fought 1-0 win. On Saturday morning they went up against a strong team from Langley and after 3 great periods came up short losing 4-3. They were a little down but came back strong against the East Kootenay Knights winning 7-0 to close out the round robin portion of the tournament finishing in 3rd. The next game was an early 7am start against the Langley Lighting for a chance to go to the finals. The girls came out strong scoring the first goal 33 seconds into the game. They never looked back and kept playing with determination. When the final buzzer sounded the Jr. Rockets were on their way to the finals with a 4-3 win.

In the other semi final the Tri Cites Predators were facing the Surrey Falcons, in a what was also a great game the Predators came out on to winning 6-4. This set up a great final between the Jr. Rockets and the Predators.

Jr. Rockets came out strong with lots of chances but just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. They went into the break down down but no means out. The Jr Rockets were determined to break the shutout, with big saves from Alley Wark the Jr. Rockets kept coming even being down 3-0. At the end of regulation the Jr. Rockets had found a way to beat the Tri Cities netminder and were going into a 4 on 4 overtime period tied 3-3. Overtime solved nothing so off to a shoot out they went. Jada Leung was first for the Rockets and scored a great goal. Tri Cities came back and scored, the Jr Rockets sent Avery King next who scored another big goal. Tri Cites came back with their strongest player and Ally Wark came up huge for the Jr. Rockets with another big save. Kaedence Mollin was next for the Jr. Rockets and slid one through the five hole. That sealed the win the Kelowna Peewee A Female Jr Rockets had won their home tournament!!!! Couldn’t have asked for a more exciting game.
